Chillax!

Merry Christmas friends and I hope you’re enjoying a some time off with your favourite people.
A frantic December means it’s been ages since my last blog so I looked for something with a chilled holiday vibe for you today and this kitchen fits the bill perfectly!!
There are so many different textures and elements to this space but the natural colour palette and some clever design ensures they don’t clash with each other.
The cream and grey tiled splash back is quite a dramatic feature when viewed on it’s own but the pale marble bench tops and contoured cabinetry with traditional draw pulls soften the overall look.
The seagrass bar stools give the kitchen a beachy feel and the raised wooden breakfast bench brings warmth to the room and is saved from looking too heavy by the white cabinets and marble top of the remainder of the island bench.
The rippled glass and stainless steel pendant lights over the bar were a clever addition, offering a modern and bright day time look while the slim pendant shades over the dinner table create a more ambient and intimate experience for the evening.
I love how the grey matt tiles delineate the kitchen space from the rest of the open plan room, I love the large picture windows which frame the palm trees and allow the light to flood in and I also love how the upper row of small windows are carried through in the upper cabinetry doors – it’s such a clever way of ensuring continuity while framing the recessed wooden ceiling perfectly.
As mentioned earlier, there’s a lot happening in this space but somehow it works – it’s a place where I would happily while away my summer holidays!
