It all white …….

As many of you know, Simon and I visited New York a few months ago and fell in love with the place! It is the most vibrant city and nine days was nowhere near enough time to explore it properly which is why I’m still constantly googling all things New York – including this gorgeous penthouse!
The view is the undisputed rock star of this apartment and credit to the designer for allowing the outside to shine while creating an unassuming but beautiful interior.
It can be challenging to make a large space feel intimate but the low ceiling ensures it feels welcoming and cosy, as does the weight and texture of the beige curtains which soften those beautiful steel framed windows.
The sofas and button holed bench are low and creamy like the paintwork so they don’t compete with the view and over-sized coffee table anchors the room and is home to a number of well placed books and object d’art.
The long dining table also highlights the large scale of the room. The neutral colour palette ensures it doesn’t dominate the space and the dark furs add warmth and another layer of texture.
For me, the staircase is a stunning feature of the open plan room. I love the timber and wrought iron railing which ties in beautifully with the black window frames and allows the light to flood in from the window behind it and the timber topped tread of each step looks great against the white risers – not only is it visually interesting but it gives the stair case perspective and balance.
I could live quite happily in a beautiful place like this!
