I fell in love with the deep verandah of this beautiful building the moment I saw it in Architectural Digest – oh to have the time and budget for such a magnificent holiday home! It’s the perfect place to enjoy family, friends or a good book.
I’m not sure of the actual location but it looks very Hamptons in style with the wooden block walls, woven wicker chairs and
white colonial windows which immediately feel warm and inviting.
The geometrical patterns on the cushions were a master stroke – bringing the diamond lead windows into focus and injecting life into the setting with their freshness and visual drama – and the crisp blue and white in both the furnishings and the ornaments gives the space a decidedly beachy feel even though the columns, crisply painted eaves and carriage light lend a sophistication not found in the average beach house!
The aged patina of the teak coffee table adds warmth and texture and is offset by the gorgeous but unfussy arrangement of flowers and bowls.
Turning to the plantings, I’m a huge fan of palm trees and their placement in the over-sized urns here is no exception. Along with the ferns, they fill the space beautifully with such lush colour and form. If I were ever looking for the ideal getaway for the weekend, this would be it!
A lazy Sunday afternoon…
