The moment I looked at this chic little space I was impressed with how the designer, Jacques Garcia, transformed this tiny room into such an opulent lounge.
As always, the beauty lies in Garcia’s intricate details. His signature use of wood paneling is well executed with the custom made book shelves which give the room some much needed depth.
Along with their practical purpose, they offer visual interest with the placement of interesting books or baubles and they cleverly form an alcove for the plush magenta couch with its gorgeous bronze studding and the dramatic photograph, framed with an additional shadow line, anchors the room beautifully.
The pale grain of the wood paneling not only throws light into the room, it also draws our eyes upwards towards to the vertical profile of the architraves which add height to the room while also framing the space and setting the scene for the large circular light fitting which creates a sense of expansion as it crowns the room.
The lamps are the perfect height on the finely crafted side tables which don’t intrude on the space and the lilac of the lamp shades is unexpected and lovely – complementing the cushions beautifully.
Finally, the hyacinths are a small explosion of colour and softness.
Creating such an elegant ambience in a small space is no mean feat and as always, Garcia mastered the task to perfection. For more, see studiojacquesgarcia.com
